Movie
Today in class we continued to watch the movie. This movie is one of my favorites because it teaches us about how thankful we should be for everything we have and are growing up with a nice surrounding. The movie is very interesting and makes me want to keep watching to see what happens.

Movie
In the movie that we watched in class today was very interesting. Our culture is very different. Trash was everywhere. Piles everywhere and it was not clean at all. There was no space at all. Houses in rows and the kids had no where to play so they went on the runway to play baseball then got chased and threatened to kill. It was a free for all when everyone was getting chased. Our lives are very different and it makes me grateful for what i have here in the united states.

From the divine archangel of peace, For in heaven your eternal destiny by the hand of God wrote But should a foreign enemy Profane your land with your plants think Oh dear homeland! Second stanza War, war without truce against who would attempt to blemish the Fatherland! War, war! The patriotic banners, in waves of blood saturate. War, war! On the mountain, in the valley The asanas cannons thunder, and the echoes ring with the voices in unison Freedom! Chorus Mexicans, at the cry of War The steel and the bridle, and retiemble land in their centers the roar of the can. Third stanza Fatherland, before your children become unarmed Beneath the yoke their neck sway your countryside be watered with blood on blood their feet trample. Chorus Mexicans, at the cry of War The steel and the bridle, and retiemble land at their centers. At the roar of the cannon. Fourth stanza Patria! Patria! Your children swear to exhale their breath in your cause, If the bugle with its warlike sound Calls to fight with courage. For you the olive garlands! A memory for them of glory! For you a laurel of victory! For them a tomb of honor! Chorus Mexicans, at the cry of war, prepare the steel and the steed and retiemble land at their centers. At the roar of the cannon.
My thought about this national anthem is that it is very long compared to ours. This continues for a very long time and goes into much detail about Mexico which i think is very interesting. It is much different from our national anthem but i like it.

In class we were still working on our countries presentation. Many people asked for more time so he gave us one more day and then tomorrow we are presenting. Arianna and I worked on Mexico and worked hard to get the information. I learned many things that i would not have known without doing this project.
Wednesday, October 29, 2014
In class today we continued to work on our power points with our partners. It is very time consuming because you have to make sure that your work is accurate. The reason for that is because you can't be sharing the wrong information with classmates because then they will be learning the wrong things. My partner and I are almost finished just have to add a few slides in order to have enough good information to share to the class.

Mexico
In todays class we worked on presentation with a partner. We got to choose a partner. For the power point we picked a state and research several things. Since we had a long class Dimitra and I picked Mexico. We had to research about there government. We found out that it is a federal republic. Then we looked up how it would be possible to overthrow a leader. We came up with the following assassination, and reelection. This is a good thing for us to be doing in class because it will help us really understand more about all these places that everyone is working on.

today
Todays class was shortened by a lot so that didn't leave us with much time to do anything but review homework blogs and discuss things. For our blog last night we were supposed to look up interesting facts about each person we did our project on . Some of the facts were really interesting and other people had lame ones. Then at the end of class we got dismissed to go to the power puff game.

class
In class today we had to spend a majority of the time helping everyone understand what they were supposed to do for the project that was assigned to us on friday. Mr Schick clearly stated on friday how he wanted this to be completed yet most people didn't do it correctly. Some people didn't label, some used the wrong countries. It was a easy project for people who payed attention and looked at his power point to make sure everything was completed correctly. I got a 100 percent on the project and it helped my grade a lot. Thanks for assigning it mr Schick!!

Since there were several people out of class on friday they all had to take the test that we took. Mr Schick aloud us to complete anything such as homework from other classes or projects. Many people took the time to get all there homework down so they didn't have any that night and since we have PSAT testing tomorrow. Then he said that on friday since we don't have class on friday we will get them back and review them and see how we did.

todays test
In human geo class today we took a test. The test was not too difficult. The only part i had a problem was with the charts. The fill in the blanks with the definitions was really easy because all the words are things we have gone over multiple times. Another part of the test was using the CIA world fact book. The 10 minutes was almost not enough time to finish the 12 questions. I was rushing to find the last few. The bonus questions were really hard so i just put down random numbers. Overall i think i did okay on it.

todays class
In class today we went through many countries in the CIA world fact book. While looking at the countries we searched there economy, geography, military etc. We compared the United states to all the others. We found out that the united states has the largest and most technologically powerful economy. Thats not a shock because we are on technology so much and know so much about it. The CIA world fact book is a really good website to get information off of because it has so much information that helped us in class.
Wednesday, October 1, 2014
In class on october 1 we talked a lot about the population pyramid. Mr. Schick talked to us about China and there population. He went over how they made a law that each family could only have one child for many years. Many people obeyed this law because of how close the country was to its government. They always followed the rules. If they had a 2nd child they would get taxed a lot when the government would usually pay for it. Also if the kid the people were having was a girl they would usually get an abortion because men are more useful so they would try again for a boy.

Todays class
Today in class we discussed the CIA worldfactbook website. We learned how to further navigate aorund the website and learned some new facts about the United States government. We also learned there are a bunch of definitions on the website that can be useful for class help. Mr. Schick talked about nuclear bombing too, which was kind of scary to learn about. We watched a video about it and everyone would quickly get to the safest spot if the siren would go off.

class notes
Today in class we reviewed things they talked about on friday in class because some people were not in class because of the freshman retreat. We looked at a power point that had facts written on it and then Mr Shick explained everything to us. Some of those things we talked about were interesting. One of those things we talked about were life expectancy. Life expectancy is the average number of years to be lived by a group of people born in the same year. Right now on this earth there are over 7 billion people. The number is increasing by over 73 million per year. The crude birth rate is the number of births per 1000 of the population. And the crude death rate is the number of deaths per 1000 of the population. The net migration rate is the difference between the number of persons entering and leaving a country during a year.

Fridays Class
On friday i was not in class. I went on the freshman retreat. On the retreat we did a lot of fun things. We played games outside and also got into groups and talked and then came up with things that represent John carroll. My group said Athletics, Academics, and citizenship. Then we ate pizza and played more games. Then we got back onto the bus and then had closing prayer and ended the day.

todays test
In class today we took our test. I thought that the test was going to be a lot harder then it actually was. Mr Shick let us use our blogs which helped a tremendous amount. If you had a really good blog and did everything correctly it would've helped a lot on the test because if you got caught you would've had the information. Taking the test wasn't bad at all.

Todays class
Today in class we discussed many things. Since Mr Shick will not be in class tomorrow we went over things that will be on the test wednesday. He explained the test really well. He told us that he does not do true or false questions because they do not benefit us because we have a 50/50 chance of getting it wrong. Then he let us say some things that we think should be on the test. He even let us know the essay question and some of the questions that will be on the test. Then we started talking about inventions and how everything is going to be different in the years coming.

globalization
In class yesterday we talked about globalization. Globalization is the connection of different parts of the world. Globalization also results in the expansion of international cultural, economic, and political activities. A lot of globalization is associated with Americanization. One way globalization has spread is through religion. Also many people are talking way more english around the world. Globilization is spreading in many around the world.

todays class
In class we discussed many things. One of those things was talking about where all of our things come from. We checked our clothes tags, shoes, binder and computers to see where they they were made. Most things were made in china because everybody there works for cheap and then ships all the stuff overseas to america. We discussed workers from other country. We talked about if you call

Did You Know video
I was not in class for long today but i didn't have to be in class in order to do this blog because there is a video to help. There were many things in this video that i had no clue about. My initial reaction on the video i watched was i was shocked and amazed. I was shocked because i was amazed at all this crazy information about our generation using technology. All of these changes are happening with technology. Who knew this would all turn into such a big problem. Back in the day they didn't used to have any of this technology that we know take for granted and don't get off of it. I don't think most people in our generation could go a month with out the use of technology. Even i wouldn't be able to. These changes are personal because it is becoming such a big part of my life because everyone is always on there phones or something and we can't have conversations face to face. Technology plays a huge role in my life. In many ways it does such as, school, social media, talking to people. I school we use computers and google our answers sometimes, we do our homework online. Social media is probably one of the biggest because everyone is so into Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat that we hate when we cannot use these apps. It has become such a big part of our lives.

Today in class we talked about "A message to Garcia". The whole point of this story is so that everybody understands they should be reliable and hardworking and just get done what they need done without asking questions. Then we talked about voting. When our parents were younger the voting age was different. It used to be 18 and now it is 21. And he said that kids were getting drafted into the war but yet couldn't vote. Younger people should be aloud to vote because we have our whole future in front of us unlike old people. Senior citizens don't have as much time as we do left on the earth so why can't we vote to help our future?

todays class
In todays class we had to help get everyone on track with there blogging. Today in class we figured out that many people kept creating a new blog every time, instead you are supposed to publish a new post on your blog. Since most people were doing it incorrect we had to help them get back on track. Then you had to show us how to check our grades online on powerschool because many people also didn't know how and some of those people were failing because of there blogging mistakes. Since the people blogged wrong he didn't see there updated posts which caused them to get a zero for completion because he didn't know they did them. After we got everyone situated we talked about the ALS ice bucket challenge and how someone in his family was affected and how it has raised almost over 90 million dollars.

5 ways to be successful
My five points to have a successful freshman year
1.) Get to class on time
1.) Get to class on time
- i will make sure that i do not goof around and waste time because if you get to class late there are consequences and thats not good. Also you can't just say your locker got jammed everyday because they will catch on that you are just talking to friends in the hallway
2.)Organization
- I will keep all my papers in the correct place. If you are not organized you will loose things and that will affect your grade if you don't turn in your papers.
3.)Note taking
- During all my classes i will take good meaningful notes. By taking good notes it can help with my studying. If you take poor notes you will have nothing to study and do bad on your test/quiz
4.) Participate in class
- you should participate in class because it shows that you are making an effort to do well. If you just sit there and don't speak the teacher isn't going to know if you aren't understanding anything so its always better to ask questions then be lost
5.) Activity's
- I will always do some kind of after school activity. It will help because you can meet new people and its a great way to have fun
Wednesday, August 27, 2014
Today in class we did many things. When we first arrived everyone was confused about blogging. Most people didn't send them to the correct place. So everyone had to meet with you and figure out what they did wrong. After everyone figured out how to correctly send blogs in we then went over some class things. We talked about how everything was going to work especially cyber days. Also we learned that you do not except extra credit. You have a good reason because some people that didn't try could get away by having extra credit and pass when all the other people worked hard to get there grade.

first day
My first day of john carroll was awesome! Everybody is so nice and helps us a ton. My classes are fun because i know so many people in them! The only hard part about today is my locker, it keeps getting jammed! I thought today was going to be much harder. I underestimated it because all my classes were so easy to find then expected, i thought i would never be able to find a class. Another part of john carroll that I enjoy are the free mods! Since we have so many a day we can use each of them to do different things. Overall i really enjoyed it and am so glad i chose to attend John carroll.
